Apple’s iOS 17.4 update brings a variety of new features and enhancements, including:
New Emoji: Users can now express themselves with additional emoji, such as a lime wedge, nodding and shaking heads, a phoenix, and a mushroom.
Improvements to Stolen Device Protection: Enhancements have been made to the recently introduced Stolen Device Protection feature, likely aimed at bolstering the security measures for lost or stolen iPhones.
Apple Podcast transcripts : Podcast episodes in the Apple Podcast app will have transcripts, with text highlighting in sync with the audio, in English, Spanish French and German. The text also will be searchable and can be used with other accessibility features, such as changing the text size or using the VoiceOver feature.
In addition to the major changes mentioned earlier, Apple’s iOS 17.4 update includes several additional updates and bug fixes, including:
- Enhanced Caller ID: Caller ID will now display information for Apple-verified businesses, showing their name and logo if available. This feature can help users quickly identify incoming calls from recognized businesses.
- Music Recognition Integration: Users can now add recognized songs to their music library or playlists directly from the Music Recognition feature. This integration streamlines the process of saving identified songs for later listening or exploration.
- Multilingual Siri Message Announcements: Siri is now capable of announcing messages in any supported language, improving accessibility and convenience for users who communicate in multiple languages.
- Expanded Battery Health Details: The Battery Health section in Settings will provide users with more detailed information about their device’s battery health. This enhancement offers users greater transparency and insight into the performance and longevity of their device’s battery.
